Identified unsafe toys on the territory of the Customs Union

As a result of the research of the State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus, a discrepancy was found between the requirements of the technical regulations of the Customs Union “On the safety of toys” (HARDWARE 008/2011 TR) of the products of the trademarks (“Slime Mega Mix”, “Jelly” marked "Elastic", "chewing gum for hands", etc.) and kits for creativity "Plastika".
Supervision tests carried out demonstrated that the products do not meet the standards of chemical and toxicological indicators. Thus, the toxicity index (integral indicator of exposure to harmful substances) in most toys did not meet the established values.
Higher than normal:
Formaldehyde migration level - in the toy of the “Slime“ Mega Mix ”trademark transparent + red exceeded more than 8 times;
the level of migration of propyl alcohol - in the toy of the brand “Slime“ Mega Mix ”transparent + red exceeded almost 28 times;
the level of migration of methyl alcohol - in the toy brand “Slime“ Mega Mix ”exceeded 67 times;
the level of migration of butyl alcohol - in a toy brand “Slime“ Mega Mix ”exceeded almost 2 times;
the level of phenol migration in the kits for creativity “Plastikushka” the dough for modeling was 4–7 times higher;
the intensity of the smell in some of the studied samples exceeded the established rate by 1.5 - 2 times.
The increased content of these substances in toys poses a risk to children's health. Toxic substances entering the body of the child through contact with the skin, swallowing paint particles, inhalation, affect the central nervous system of the child, irritating the mucous membrane of the eyes and respiratory tract. Products containing such toxic substances pose a particular threat to children with chronic respiratory diseases.
According to the results of the supervising activities conducted by the Gosstandart, the validity of certificates of conformity issued by the Customs Union was issued.
